Eat a bigger breakfast

A research in 2013 revealed that eating a good breakfast can help women with fertility issues. The researchers at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and Tel Aviv University found that a big breakfast increases fertility amongst women that suffer from irregular periods. It found that eating a larger breakfast may improve the hormonal effects of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), which is a major cause of infertility. Always take a larger breakfast but as you do this, learn to increase the size of your evening meal as this can lead to weight gain. The researchers added that eating more calories at breakfast and less at your evening meal can help solve fertility issues.

Check what you eat

Taking in unhealthy meals, whether big or not too large can affect fertility as it can make your reproductive cycle irregular. This can cause you to ovulate only occasionally and if you are not careful, you will not ovulate at all. If you consume so much animal protein (beef, pork or chicken), replace them with animal vegetable protein sources such as cooked dried beans and nuts. Add high-fat dairy as well, as this will reduce your risk of ovulatory infertility. Eat foods rich in healthy fats like extra virgin oil. For women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), cutting down on carbs is also recommended. Refined carbs including sugary foods, drinks, and processed grains like white pasta, bread and rice should be avoided if you want to get pregnant as quickly as possible.

Cut caffeine

Taking too much caffeine can negatively affect women’s fertility. Cut down on the coffee, tea and soft drinks, as studies say that coffee intake may reduce levels of estrogens which will, in turn, have issues with your fertility. A high caffeine intake before pregnancy can also increase the risk of a miscarriage.

Avoid smoking

Smoking is bad for your reproductive system and women who smoke go through menopause earlier than those who do not. Such women are likely to get ectopic pregnancies as well, doctors have said. If your husband or boyfriend smokes too, he must quit as the practice lowers sperm count and quality. This means both of you need to put an end to smoking if you want to have a healthy pregnancy.

Maintain a healthy weight

Make sure you are not underweight or overweight as this will help balance your reproductive cycle. Always check your body mass index (BMI) score. Health experts say a ranking of 19 to 24 shows that your weight is healthy. Women who are underweight or overweight have longer cycle lengths, making it very difficult for them to get pregnant. If you want to get pregnant, try and lose weight if you are overweight and gain weight if you are underweight. If you’re too thin, gaining as little as five pounds is enough to jumpstart ovulation and menstruation, TheBump.com states. If you are overweight, losing just 5 to 10 percent of your current body weight is often enough to do the same.
